WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP RETREAT REGISTRATION OPENS

Registration is now available for the Leadership Retreat for Orthodox women scheduled on Friday through Sunday, October 13-15, 2006 at Christ the King Retreat Center , Buffalo , Minnesota , about an hour from Minneapolis . The weekend is sponsored by WOMEN (Women's Orthodox Ministries and Education Network).

The Retreat theme is Through the Prayers of Our Holy Foremothers, How Should We Then Serve: A Leadership Retreat for Orthodox Christian Women Uniting Wisdom from the Past with the Challenges of Ministry Today.

Keynote Speaker, Orthodox theologian Dr. Valerie Karras, Ph.D., Th.D., will present on "Our Foremothers in Orthodox Worship: A Historical Perspective."  Panels and workshops on varieties of parish ministries and the future of women's ministries, including the restoration of the deaconess, will be offered between regular worship services.  Small groups will discuss the book Encountering Women of Faith , a collection of essays from the Saint Catherine's Vision Group released in 2005 and edited by Dr. Kyriaki Karidoyanes FitzGerald. One need not hold an official leadership position within the Church to attend:  All are welcome.  Registration fee is $190 for a double room, $220 for a single room.  The registration form and the full range of registration options appears at the end of this message.
