Greetings in our Lord! Enclosed for your parish are announcements of an upcoming Orthodox
women's leadership conference to take place in Minnesota on October 13-15, 2006. Please help
us reach the current and potential women leaders in your parish by publicizing this information
in April or May 2006, and again in August or September 2006.
The retreat will feature interactive programs around a core of Orthodox worship. Keynote Speaker
Dr. Valerie Karras (GOA), Ph.D., Th.D., will speak on the history of women's ministries in the
Church, plus workshops, panels and group discussions on prison ministry, icononography, seniors' ministry, parish pastoral care, homeless ministry, the future of women's ministry, and much more.

- One-paragraph announcements – suitable for printing in Sunday bulletin

Women's Orthodox Ministries and Education Network (WOMEN) is offering a leadership retreat
for Orthodox women Friday through Sunday, October 13-15, 2006 at Christ the King Retreat Center, Buffalo, Minnesota, about an hour from Minneapolis.
Retreat theme is Through the Prayers of Our Holy Foremothers, How Should We Then Serve?
A Leadership Retreat for Orthodox Christian Women Uniting Wisdom from the Past with
the Challenges of Ministry Today. Keynote Speaker, Orthodox theologian Dr. Valerie
Karras, Ph.D., Th.D., will present on “Our Foremothers in Orthodox Worship: A Historical
Perspective.” Panels and workshops on varieties of parish ministries and the future of women's ministries will be offered between regular worship services. Registration is $190 for a double room.
WOMEN is an international network of Orthodox Christians serving as a pan-Orthodox clearinghouse
of news and resources for lay leaders and celebrating the ways women's ministries witness for Christ. One need not hold an official leadership position within the Church to attend: all are welcome.
